Passing Notes

How to play Folded Fate

Fold the corners in. Partner picks a packet.

Don't plan the date. Play for it. You don't have to agree on a plan. Just agree to play.

Start

  1. Pick a mode: Zero Thought (schema defaults, skip edit and secret add), Make It Ours (defaults loaded, replace any slot, secret add while the phone is yours), or Blank Slate (empty lists — does not silently refill defaults).
  2. Each category is authored with five options: food, activity, game, entertainment. You need exactly five live options in every category or you do not start.
  3. Filter: trim, drop blanks, 1–40 characters. Duplicates are case-sensitive. Pizza and pizza are both allowed; two "pizza" collapse to one.

The ritual

  1. On Make It Ours or Blank Slate, secretly change any slot while the phone is yours. Then fold.
  2. Fold the four corners in. That plus the center makes five packets.
  3. Pass the phone. Partner sees packet backs 1–5, not the faces.
  4. Partner picks a packet, or says / types 1–5.
  5. Unfold. Panel i is option i in every category (1-indexed). One pick, four winners.
  6. Result: Tonight: food · activity · game · entertainment.

Fold animation is optional. Reduced motion shows packets instantly. Say or type 1–5 is the real a11y path, not a fallback randomizer. No Math.random().

Panels (locked)

All five can win. If a mapped slot is missing after filter, that packet is dead — pick again. Do not invent a winner.
